Why Try CBD?

Its important to reiterate the fact that CBD is no magic medicine. Like any supplement it works best in combination with a healthy lifestyle including good nutrition and exercise. However, CBD is worth trying for a number of reasons. There are conditions that show signs of positive response to CBD that need more research. Preclinical and pilot studies haven given an insight into the potential therapeutic actions of CBD:

  • Anti-inflammatory
  • Anti-depressive
  • Addiction management
  • Treatment of inflammatory dermatologic conditions
  • Neuroprotective
  • Pain management
  • And many more

Currently there are only two approved medicines that contain CBD as an active pharmaceutical ingredient: Epidiolex (which is isolated CBD inside a sesame oil carrier, thus not containing any other cannabinoids when compared to full-spectrum oils) and Sativex (which is a mouth spray that contains CBD and THC in a 1:1 ratio)These have been especially developed for and tested on patients suffering from seizures or spasticity. These medicines have shown great positive effects on patients underlining the high potential of the cannabis plant.

Over-the-counter CBD oils have less than 0.2% THC (regulations may differ per country) and are usually made from whole-plant cannabinoids. This means that the method of CBD extraction in the production of the oils contain a broad spectrum of other cannabinoids besides CBD, while filtering out the THC. CBD in combination with other cannabinoids is known to have an entourage effect. That is why NOEO uses full-spectrum CBD distillate in their products.

The entourage effect describes how different compounds in cannabis work synergistically to improve the receptor affinity in the endocannabinoid system and thus enhance the cannabinoid activity in the body. The entourage effect may also reduce the psychoactive effects of the small traces of THC found in full-spectrum oils.

CBD as an isolated compound has been rigorously studied in the context of severe medical conditions, however more information is needed on full-spectrum formulations. Investigations into potential therapies with CBD oils have shown to be a promising area for research.
